2024 GARDEN SHARES

Lace Up Your BOOTS!

We’re heading to the garden…

As our family grows and the farm is once again filled with the sounds of little ones, we are reminded of the earlier days when we first acquired the property. Peaches, apples, pears, and cherry trees graced the grounds, and every summer we would plant a thriving vegetable garden. Our children grew up running through the little cornfield, stripping back the green husks for a raw treat. Evenings were spent hunting for eggs in the henhouse and gathering up apples off the ground.

The past few years have made us want to be more connected to our food. We care about what’s served at our table, and we want the best. We want organic, every time. We want unprocessed, sun-soaked goodness. We want fresh, straight from the soil. We want zero sprays. We don’t care about official labels, we want transparency and truth. We want our toes planted in the dirt, we want our muscles to feel that good kind of ache from a good day’s work. We want food available that we want to eat. Over the past year, we found that our community members want the same thing. There is a collective voice raising, demanding better for our tables, our health, and our children.

As we look forward to the 2024 Summer Season at the farm, we’re bringing back our Garden Share! It’s a simple farm share program, where community members can purchase a share of what our farm produces and be a part of the process!

THERE ARE 10 SPOTS AVAILABLE PER SESSION | Garden Shares make a wonderful Christmas gift for the whole family!

An easy drive from Temecula, one finds Fork and Plow Lavender Farm. A beautiful spot of land with endless views out into the valley and towards the surrounding mountains. But more than beautiful land, the farm is owned and run by a beautiful family. Belinda and Buck treat everyone with such warmth you want to stay as long as possible to soak in the goodness of the gardens and the hospitality. My family and I participacted in the summer “Farm Share” program. We were amazed to find that organic vegetables, herbs, eggs and flowers created generous weekly “harvest boxes”. Belinda send Buck were kind enough to offer to put a box together during the week if you couldn’t make the harvest times, but we loved going out as a family and letting our kiddos see where the delicious veggies came from, feed the chickens a leaf or two and enjoy the clean air. There is nothing better than the taste of corn fresh off the stalk and tomatoes fresh off the vine! We found new varieties of squash to love and the wonder of pulling out our own carrots! We will definitely visit the farm again and I would suggest the farm share programs to anyone that values food quality and true “farm to table”!

All photos on our website are real life, taken smack dab in the middle of the garden. Our photographer can be found here.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at Fork and Plow on Farm Share pick up day. The produce was wonderful and varied and we appreciated the recipes on how to use some of the produce. Picking our own produce was lots of fun and watching the garden “grow” from week to week was amazing. Buck, Belinda and family made the hour or so time at the farm really special. Looking forward to more special visits to Fork & Plow Lavender Farm.

The Experience

Garden Share members can choose how to spend time in the garden! Are you feeling like getting soil on your hands and want to spend some time hula hoe-ing? We can show you our biggest and best weeds, and we can always use the help. There are thousands of plants that need to be pinched, pruned, watered, and loved on.

Maybe you just want to bring a book and enjoy a little peace and quiet with an iced lavender latte. Are your children visiting with you? Would they like to plant some snap peas or pumpkins?

Would you like to bring a picnic and enjoy it in the garden? Pack up your favorite eats to snack on during your visit.

We truly want you to feel like this is your farm too— let us know how we can best serve you!

Not your typical CSA…

Your purchase of a farm share supports Fork & Plow throughout the year. You’re sharing in the risks and rewards of farming. The excitement we feel in our bones when we see that first squash blossom— we want you to feel that too. When the aphids are swarming around the kale stalks— you can feel that communal triumph as we release the ladybugs to devour them. You’re actually invited to be a part of this garden adventure. Grab a couple of Cherokee tomato seedlings from the workshop and spend some time tucking their precious roots into the soil. Sip on a spicy apple cider and pull a few tedious weeds away from the dahlia plants.

This is a story of sowing humble seeds and harvesting delightful delicatas.

Our days at the farm are spent in overalls and muck boots. We tend to the garden rows and anxiously watch our sunflower babies, willing them to grow into their spectacular bloom each year. Before dusk, you’ll find Buck tossing the hen’s fresh purslane and plucking a few breakfast radishes to dip in bacon butter before supper. In the morning, when the rooster crows, the whole family will be out with cups of muddy coffee and armed with baskets and clippers to take in the day’s bush beans. It’s a terribly wonderful affair full of gains and losses and arms of beautiful flowers and noses smudged with dirt and watching tiny lettuce leaves pop out of the ground. We’re hoping you’ll lace up and join us in this fight for good food and a good community.

Wow, what an amazing experience! The farm share at Fork and Plow Lavender Farm blew me away.
Wonderful produce every week accompanied by delicious drinks and fun treats from the Lavender farm were so special. Every week walking the garden and harvesting this gorgeous bounty in a beautiful setting was such a highlight. I loved going out to the farm just before sunset for the most spectacular views. I always harvested my produced and then rushed home to make fresh spring rolls, butternut squash soup or vegetable Penang curry, eating all the snap peas, baby tomatoes and carrots on the way home.
I would highly recommend the farm share to anyone who loves incredible produce and loves supporting local farmers.

Expectations

  • Each box will be a little different and yields will ebb and flow from week to week depending on the weather and what’s available to harvest.

  • Each box will be value-packed with a $40.00 market value.

  • You can expect that each week you’ll be leaving with a good variety of different items from the farm.

How does it work?

  • There is a one-time payment of $200.00, (this works out to $40.00 per week).

  • The Summer Share has two sessions: July 20th - August 17th, and August 24th - September 14th.

  • The Autumn Share has a single session: September 28th - October 26th.

  • Harvest dates are on SATURDAYS. We will be open in the morning 9 am to 11 am + 5 pm to 7 pm. You can harvest within those two windows of time on the Saturdays in your session.

  • We do not accept cancellations or offer refunds of any kind. Remember, this is you supporting a local farm during good times or bad. Know that we, as we always have, will do everything within our power to protect all of our agricultural projects. We will do whatever it takes to make sure you’re getting at least that market value each week.

  • If you find that you can’t make it Saturday of a particular week, consider sending a friend to pick up your weekly share. Remember that you’re committed to the season as a whole, and when the produce is ready— it’s READY. We can’t hold boxes or skip weeks, or let weeks accumulate. You have an opportunity each week to visit— gifting a week of farm goodness where your schedule is busy is the BEST way to handle it!

  • Plan at least 30-60 minutes for each visit.

  • We’re open Saturdays for harvest. Boxes can be picked up (pre-harvested by our team) most days of the week (we’re flexible!). These pick-ups need to be scheduled ahead of time with our farm coordinator.

  • We see this as being an opportunity for a great family experience. If you have little ones that you think would enjoy an afternoon at the farm, feel free to bring them with you. *All children must be supervised at all times. Or, feel free to bring a friend.

  • There are particular areas of the farm and garden that we may ask you to not bring toddlers, ie; delicate flower beds, etc. Children who are older and easily aware of their surroundings may be allowed inside to help harvest. Thank you for keeping our delicate flowers and veggies safe!

Is there anything else to do nearby?

  • Old Town Temecula is FILLED with 5-star restaurants (The Goat & Vine and Two Travelers are our most favorite)! Grab lunch and a glass of watermelon sangria on the way!

  • Take advantage of our Temecula Valley Wineries! We’re just 25 minutes from the De Portola Wine Trail, and only 10 minutes from the Warner Springs Trail.

  • Visit Temecula Olive Oil Farm and do a tasting (5 minutes away)
